Conjugated antibodies are affinity-purified before being labeled and contain bovine serum albumin as a stabilizer.

Selected secondary antibodies have been further purified to minimize cross-reactivity to serum proteins of other species. This purification is accomplished by adsorbing the antigen-purified antibody to an affinity column containing immobilized serum proteins of selected species.
